A Happy Friday and a Sad Farewell

To see all of today's pictures, check out our google photos link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/bupuHYqlIwJt841S2

Our Friday started out with filling peanut butter Kongs for the shelter dogs, decorating and getting excited for our carnival themed afternoon, and giving the feral cats food and water. Today there was even a feral cat spotting! Mr. Jingles and Aladdin make an appearance, showing how grateful they are for our campers' help this week!

Next we were lucky enough to meet Callie. Callie, formerly known and Nina Simone, was recently adopted by Clark who works at the customer service desk. We then munched on some delicious donuts (Thank you so much Zeb! Happy Birthday!) and did our pet share. It was so exciting to hear about and see everyone's furry friends and beloved pets.

As we wrapped up, our guest speakers arrived. Sergeant Labrecque and Corporal Badeau from the Burlington Police Department visited with their trusty K9, Mozart. These three have been frequent visitors over the last few years of Camp Paw Paw and never fail to impress. We were blown away will their animal safety talks, and their obedience and trick performances. They wrapped up their time with us by showing us some of Mozart's best skills. This included his ability and passion for protecting his person (and partner), Corporal Badeau and well as his love for training and doing his job. We were also able to check out the back of the police car where Mozart rides along, and had a chance to wear Sergeant Labrecque's bullet proof police vest (no worries parents - he was careful to remove anything that could have been dangerous). The campers (and counselors, to be honest) were ecstatic and had a blast.

We grabbed our snacks and were off to the field, where we had our very first Camp Paw Paw carnival Friday! This included bubbles, a parachute, a snack (thanks to Alizee!), HSCC tattoos, games, and lots and lots of face painting!

Thank you so much for such an amazing week with all of these amazing campers - it won't be the same without them. We had an unforgettable time and hope that your campers' did as well. We hope to see all these smiling faces again next year and that everyone has a wonderful rest of their summer!

Best wishes,
Your Camp Paw Paw Counselors!
