A rainy, but fun day at Camp Paw Paw! The morning started with campers helping out with providing food & water to our feral cats and filling big and small Kongs with peanut butter and dog bones for our dogs at the shelter. Campers also made their own pet rocks as part of our morning station activities!
After morning stations we played Cheetah, Cheetah, Tiger (Duck, Duck Goose) and the campers had a blast chasing each other around the circle and shared many laughs together. Following that game, we played a few rounds of animal charades and the campers did an awesome job of coming up with animals to act out and also guessing the animals.
Our surprise guest speaker was HSCC’s very own Erin Alamed and her pup Shelby who Erin adopted from the Southern U.S.! We practiced how to approach a dog and had fun hanging out in the dog play yard with Erin & Shelby till the rain started coming down and we retreated to the tent where Shelby loved sharing the dog beds with the campers :) Each camper was very happy to get an official HSCC Volunteer sticker from Erin as a thank you for all they have been helping out with at the shelter. The last part of the day campers made their own bead worm pets and more pet rocks which will be ready to be picked up from the rock daycare tomorrow all dried and set to go home!
***Reminder: Tomorrow, our last day of camp, is our Pet Share day where campers should bring in something pet/animal related to share with the camp! Some ideas of possible share items are photos, stuffed animals, books, or drawings. We are so excited to see what everyone has to share!
